Fast-Tracking the Launch of Clemtex’s Website

Clemtex is a trusted industry leader since 1955, providing high-quality surface preparation and coating solutions backed by decades of expertise and reliable service, while 121eCommerce supports their growth with a streamlined, conversion-focused eCommerce platform.

The challenge

The Problem Faced

Clemtex has been a trusted name in corrosion control equipment and industrial supplies, offering a wide range of products from multiple vendors. With a strong reputation for quality and service, they’ve long supported businesses with reliable solutions for surface preparation and coating applications.

As their product catalog expanded, their e-commerce platform struggled to keep up. A newly developed Adobe Commerce site was never launched due to extremely slow load times and persistent technical issues across both the frontend and backend.

Critical features like search, shopping cart functionality, and request-for-quote capabilities were unreliable or completely broken, making it difficult for customers to place orders online.

To support their growth and shift more sales to digital channels, Clemtex needed a stable, high-performing website that could handle their large inventory and deliver a smooth user experience.

Key Challenges:

Severely Slow Website Performance

Broken Code Functionality

Unstable Backend Management

Poor User Experience Blocking Sales

The Client Journey

our approach

The Solution

The process started with an audit of Clemtex’s third-party extensions to identify what was necessary and what could be replaced with native Adobe Commerce features. Based on this, the website was upgraded to the latest version of the platform.

During the upgrade, existing issues were addressed and bugs across both the frontend and backend were resolved to ensure a stable and reliable system.

Extension Review

Reviewed all existing extensions, identified those causing conflicts or adding unnecessary complexity, and removed or replaced them with more stable, built-in functionality.

Platform Upgrade

After stabilizing the extension environment, the platform was upgraded to the latest version to ensure improved performance, compatibility, and long-term maintainability.

Fixed Functionality

Addressed bugs, glitches, and broken features across the site, ensuring key components such as navigation, updates, and overall system behavior were stable and reliable.

Faster and More Stable

After months of delays with their previous web developer, we launched Clemtex’s all-new eCommerce website on the latest version of Adobe Commerce in just under four months.

Clemtex customers can now place orders on a fast, easy-to-use, mobile-first website. We added custom functionality to process equipment rental requests and we implemented the ability for customers to submit a quote before purchasing.

Searching for products has been simplified and expanded with filtered navigation and customers can now request a quote directly from the website.

With a cleaned up backend, they can now manage all aspects of their storefront with ease. Site speed has been greatly improved and performance metrics are up across the board.

Only a short time after their launch, Clemtex’s new eCommerce division has already greatly impacted their overall revenue.

Most vendors over promise and under deliver. That has not been my experience working with 121.
